A few weekends ago Tim, along with brothers in law, Ben and JP put in our new wood floors in our living room. It was obvious to me that I couldn't be here with the boys so we made plans with Auntie Mary, Malaki, Papa, Gran, Uncle Tim, Auntie Faye, Izzy and Sophie to meet in Sioux Falls for an awesome weekend together!! As always Great Aunt Debbie joined us for swimming and a visit to the zoo where they had a dinosaur exhibit. The hotel had a 16 foot pirate ship and water slides!! These three little boys were in heaven. And to top the weekend off, they were able to see mechanical dinosaurs AND pick out Valentine's gifts from Gran and Papa!! Great Great Weekend!!

Home Safe and Sound

My cousin Becky came home for some R and R from Afganistan. The minute she got off the plane her boyfriend proposed! My aunt Kathy had a party for her last Saturday and we were able to go without the boys. Tim and I were so grateful to see and hug Becky, to meet her fiance, and see that she was in one piece! My group of kiddos has been sending care packages to her since she was deployed last Easter. They have sent her treats, tons of pictures, and letters filled with love.
Thanks to my Uncle Terry and Aunt Colleen, the boys had an absolutely unforgettable day! Seriously, it is all they talk about! They took the boys to a movie, hunted for pine cones in the snow, and made valentine butterflies. The boys can't wait for mom and dad to go "away" again so they can go to Uncle Terry's house.

Big Boy Beds Delivered!!

Papa and Grandma came last week to deliver "two of a kind", handcrafted by Papa himself, beautiful beds for Maxwell and Lincoln. They are now officially BIG BOYS! They are made out of oak and a little of walnut. And for Christmas Papa and Grandma gave the boys new bedspreads, Max got Dinosaurs and Linc got Wild Animals (their choice). To complete the look Aunt Tina, Aunt Mary, and Uncle Chris got the boys stickers for the wall. The biggest, most drastic change was the paint job! Just like Charlie's big boy room transformation, Tim had to do a unique, "cool" paint job including orange, green, and strips!
The week with my parents was wonderful and so very helpful. Papa also made the boys lincoln logs in his shop and gave the boys wood scraps to build their own creations with. CT loves to use his imagination and build so that was perfect.
We finished the weekend off by visiting Izzy, Sophie, Faye and Tim at Aunt Debbie's house. She has a craft for the kids and they played lots of games together.

A January Christmas

The Olson Christmas was hosted by Emily and JP in Hutchinson in early part of January. The boys had a blast playing outside and opening presents with cousins. Hopefully next year there will be one more cousin to play with!

New Year's Eve weekend was spent with Tim, Faye, and our beautiful nieces! We were finally all feeling better and wanted a weekend of fun. We went to the WOW zone for bowling, the mall for food and carousel ride, dancing and Xbox games, and finally fondue for our traditional New Year's Eve dinner. It was a blast and definitely needed after all of the illnesses we had.
Thanks for making the drive to see us! We can't wait to do it again. Love you guys!

Christmas in Rapid 2011

We had a wonderful Christmas at my parents house, celebrating with everyone except my brother Tim and his family. We missed them so much and definitely felt the hole in the group. We made sure we called a bunch and used "facetime"(like skype) on our phones so we could see them too. It helped but didn't feel the same.
We were extremely spoiled from everyone and feel very grateful for everything, especially our time together.
Unfortunately, all three of the boys got sick during our trip which took fun out of our time there. BUT WHAT COULD THEY DO?! Tim and I appreciate the help we got from everyone once again while our children were under the weather.
We love you all and couldn't feel more blessed during this holiday season!

Charlie and I spent the weekend in Vermillion with my brother Tim's family. We had a great time - tons of laughter, being goofy, too many treats, and very little sleeping (everything a sleepover is suppose to be)! At 10:45 we went to check on the kids and it looked like Iz and CT fell asleep in mid conversation. On Sunday we watched the girls at the first ballet recital and hit the DQ for a special treat.

Thanks for letting us stay with you guys!! We had a wonderful time and can't wait for the next sleepover.

My quote above is from my one and only nephew, Malaki Michael. When asked at dinner on Thanksgiving what he was thankful for, this 4 year old said "I'm thankful for all of you guys!" and we feel the same MAK!

We drove to Rapid the day before Thanksgiving and spent the weekend with the fam. We had an awesome time, both Tim and I getting time to ourselves. Tim can't go to Rapid without stopping at the Firehouse for a beer, so he and brother in law Chris spent Friday night there. The ladies got Saturday morning together shopping. Charlie couldn't leave Mak's side and they even dressed themselves the same on Friday! We are thankful for our uneventful travel, our health, and most of all each other! This year I am so incredibly thankful for my dad's successful cochlear implant surgery. He is hearing things that he has never heard before and enjoying his conversations with his grandchildren!

Thank you to all of you that made our Thanksgiving enjoyable and unforgettable! We love you all and we are very thankful you are apart of our lives!

The weekend before Thanksgiving we had a delicious ham dinner with Tim's family here. The day doesn't matter, just as long as you get together to celebrate what you are thankful for! It was a great afternoon for all of us. Max was so tired by 4:30 that he fell asleep sitting up on the couch and rolled off to the floor :) Thanks to all that made the day wonderful for us!

Best Friends for Life!

We headed to the cities on Saturday to visit some family and best friends. We started our visit at Nama's house where we saw Aunt Becky, Nama, Grma Millie, and cousins Karlie, Claire, and Avery. The kids had a great time playing on Nama's porch and eating giant apples that Grma Millie brought them.

We ended the day going to see great friends, Tate, Jess, Evan, and Madeline at their house. We were lucky that Tim's other best friend, Chuck, and his wife, Sheena, were in town as well. It was a great afternoon of small talk, feeding babies and lil boys (beers for the HUGE boys), and playing at the park.

We are blessed to have all of these people in our lives!!

OLSONS TO THE RESCUE

Yes we were all superheros this year. We hosted a party the weekend before Halloween with friends. ALL guests were in costume - we had everyone from Mrs. Claus to Chaz Bono! It was awesome. Unfortunately when Halloween day came around, Max and Lincoln didn't want to dress up. So we were construction worker, horse, SpiderMan, witch, and woodworker (aka Papa). The Banks invited us to their neighborhood for trick or treating fun. We didn't see Charlie for most of the time because he was having such a great time with his buddy Luke.

Papa and Gran invited us to the lake for the weekend. Papa has been recovering and relaxing with Gran there. Uncle Tim, Izzy, and Sophie met us there to spend Saturday. We played at the park, went toy shopping, and settled Papa for a huge nap. It was a great day but I fear Papa over did it. Nothing slows this guy down!

Our Rock Needs US!

Saturday I left to be with my dad while he had his second cochlear implant surgery, to replace the existing implant. I spent Saturday in Sioux Falls with my sis in law and beautiful nieces, Izzy and Sophie, shopping and playing. I left for Omaha the next day with my parents and sisters. That night my cousin Amie and her family welcomed us for dinner. It was a great way to forget about what was going to happen the next morning. My Uncles Tony and Terry (Dad's brothers) along with my cousin Tony Jr. joined us at the hospital. It was greatly appreciated by all of us, especially my dad. The man that is always there for ALL of us was the one in need this time and it was wonderful to see two of his brothers by his side! They were also at the first surgery (along with Grpa Ed), so it was special for them to be there again.

I appreciated Faye bringing the girls to Sioux Falls to spend the day with me. Mary and Tina got there later that day.

The man of the weekend, the night before the surgery.

It is no secret how much my dad means to me and how important it was to me to be with him this weekend. He is my hero, my best friend, my biggest supporter, and my teacher! He is never the vulnerable one, never "out of commission", and never asks for anything. It was so hard for me to see him in that hospital bed, not up and telling someone to get to work. But in true T.F.H. style, Dad was up and out of bed ready to leave 3 hrs after surgery. Right after surgery Dad was asking for his grand kids, a beer, and lamb chops! (a good sign to all of us)

I thought I would include this picture so you could see what he actually had done. Surgery was about 3 1/5 hrs long and an hour of recovery. It is incredible to us! We can't thank his doctors enough for this amazing gift that so many of us take for granted! Think about it the next time you have a conversation with your spouse, child, friend, coworker, or GRANDCHILD!

This amazing woman never stops caring for the ones she loves. I know my parents love each other but it is an amazing feeling to watch one care for the other in a time of need. My sister couldn't have said it better, "there is something so comforting about mom's hand stroking your face". We don't show her enough of our appreciation. So THANK YOU MOM for doing what you do best - taking care of those you love with all your heart!

Dad is recovering at the lake right now with his nurse and is itching to see his grandkids in a few short days. I want to thank my wonderful and amazing husband for staying home with the boys so I could be with my dad with no distractions. He sent me a ton of pictures to share with my dad before and after the surgery to help him smile. When I got home Charlie showed me their "project" they were working on for Papa's recovery. Great man!

Last weekend the boys' Nama babysat for us and then spent the day with them at Emma Krumbee's. The Whittingtons came for fun and birthday celebrations. Tim celebrated his birthday with the boys and me at the WOW zone in Mankato. It was an awesome night with tons of laughs and smiles. It was Max and Lincoln's 1st time bowling and it was a complete success. Tim received lots of messages and phone calls from family and friends that helped the smile spread all day!

Tim, you are an amazing father and husband. We are lucky to have you in our lives and blessed to call you OURS! You make us happy every day in your own way. Grandparents Make it Special

Papa and Grandma came to St. Peter to make Max and Lincoln's birthday celebration a special one. Max and Linc had their first special outing without big brother. The only way that was possible was because CT was in school. Afterwards, he had his usual special lunch with Papa and Grandma and the lil boys stayed home. It is hard to make them all feel special without making the others feel sad but these grandparents do a spectacular job!

We had our annual visit to Emma Krumbee's pumpkin patch and birthday celebrations for Max, Lincoln, and Tim (aka daddy). It was a great weekend and wonderful memories were made. Thanks Papa and Gran for being you!!! We love you so much!!

We spent Saturday in Sioux Falls with my brother Tim's family and Aunt Debbie to celebrate Fall birthdays - Max and Lincoln (2yrs), Tim O. (30yrs), and Tim H. (38yrs). It was a great day for all of us and we hated to leave. We went to an apple orchard, lunch @ Granite City, playtime @ Aunt Debbie's, and Cherry Berry for frozen yogurt (Debbie's treat).

IT DOES!!!

Max and Lincoln made their second donation to the Mankato Animal Shelter on September 26th for their second birthday. They were so excited to see the animals and make them happy with new toys, blankets, and treats. We are very proud of these two young men and are excited to watch this tradition continue. We would like to thank those of you that contributed to this year's animal donation - Grandma and Papa, Nancy T (Tim's coworker), Chuck & Sheena (great friends/Lincoln's godparent), and of course Charles T (big brother). We appreciate that you are helping us teach our children what it means to help those in need, whether it is people or animals!! It will make a difference if we all do something to help those around us! So follow the example of these three little boys and do your share.

Home on the Range

For my birthday the boys and I headed to Rapid for a week. I haven't been home in five years for my birthday and that is what I wanted this year, to be surrounded by the people that love me the most (minus my wonderful husband who stayed in St. Peter). The week was awesome and my children knew Mom needed them to be REALLY good. They had their moments but so did I. The family hit The McDonald Petting Farm, Bear Country USA, and the emergency room! My nephew Malaki knows how to make a birthday memorable...he broke his arm while playing at Papa and Gran's.

I wanted to say a huge thank you to my parents for helping me get my NOOK COLOR for my birthday and Tim's Mom and Mary and Chris for helping decorate our new kitchen!! I appreciated all of the nice birthday notes and phone calls, especially Iz and Soph's musical gift! My lil sister also treated me to dinner and a movie while Uncle Chris, Papa, and Gran boysat for me. Thank you to everyone that made my birthday special!

30 years have come and gone in the blink of an eye. I am right where I wanted to be when I hit 30. I have an amazingly thoughtful husband of 6 years, 3 intelligent and healthy children, a successful business working with children, and the most supportive and loving family a person could ask for! I am excited about the next 30 years. My dad was 30 yrs old when I was born and now he is 60. If I can be where my parents are today in 30 years, I will count myself lucky!

August 16th I celebrated my 30th birthday in the car on the way to Rapid City with Charlie, Max and Lincoln. Before I left town Tim gave me my gift from the boys - my official logo for GENIUS IN TRAINING and shirts for the boys and I sporting that new logo. My wonderful husband worked with a graphic designer to design my logo and I LOVE it! Along with the shirts we "freshened" up the kitchen with a new back splash and paint for Tim and my birthdays. Tim did all the work while I was gone and I love the outcome.

Monday was the 15th annual Jon R. Olson golf tournament. There was a great crowd of supporters, family, and golfers as usual. Unfortunately the weather prohibited us from finishing the course. We were able to get 7 holes in before the rain and lightning. We left the boys at home this year with Grandma and Papa but needed to take the annual Timothy J Olson family golf picture.

My parents made that crappy drive once again to be here for Tim's party and "boy"sit while we golfed on Monday. The boys loved every minute of their weekend with their grandparents. CT got his special, secret outings with Papa as usual. While they were here, Papa and Grandma rode bikes, painted, baked cookies, read books, and played with the boys until they were exhausted.

We appreciate them very much and are extremely thankful for their dedication to the boys.

With the help of some family members, I surprised Tim on Saturday night with a celebration for his 30th birthday and for passing his Professional Engineering test! It was a complete success and he was TOTALLY surprised. We had Tim's closest friends, family, and coworkers in attendance. It was definitely a night for a babysitter so Tim could let loose and completely enjoy himself. It was a great feeling watching Tim as he walked into the party room and then while he went around and hugged everyone that was there for HIM. He deserves life's happiness and for all of his dreams to come true.

Thanks again to Tim's mom, his sister Heather, my parents, my sister Christina, sister in law Faye, and Tim's coworker and friend Scott for all their hard work and lies!!!

Last weekend the Haggar women and Aunt Debbie helped Christina get her brand new store up and running. We went from carpet and lights Saturday morning to tables, mannequins, clothes, shoes, and jewelry Sunday night. It was 24 hours of sweat, tears, blood (Aunt Debbie's), and lots of hard work! Christina and her staff finished the job and her doors opened Wednesday afternoon. She was greeted with a huge crowd of customers that night and Thursday. Great way to start a new store and celebrate her 31st birthday! My parents joined her for ribbon cutting on Thursday and are still smiling from ear to ear.

From all of us Tina - We are sooooo damn proud of you and your accomplishments! You have the drive and ambition to put this store on the map. You are a beautiful person that deserves it all! We love you very much. CONGRATULATIONS!

So happy to watch her in her element. I have cried a lot in Tina's store (Mankato) but the tears today are tears of happiness and pride! I left knowing that she was ok but missing her so much already!

We were fortunate enough to catch Nama Linda on a few days where she wasn't working. She entertained the boys at her house a few Sundays ago so we could go out to dinner with friends and watched them last Saturday while we were in the cities. We appreciate the help with the boys any time we can get it and lucky for them, Nama was free! Thank you so much Linda for spending that quality time with the boys. Nothing can take the place of those moments spent with our grandparents. The boys obviously enjoyed themselves and can't wait for their next date with Nama.

One of Tim's best friends, Chuck, and his wife Sheena came for a sleepover on Friday. We had Tim's other best friend Tate's baby shower on Saturday. The boys spent the day golfing and the girls spent the day talking about the newest twins to come. Tate and his wife Jess are expecting their first babies, a boy and girl. Their due date is 4 days after Max and Lincoln's birthday. We couldn't be happier for this wonderful couple and amazing friends! Tim and I are very excited to watch our good friends go on the journal we started almost two years ago. We are ready to support them in any way we possibly can!

A WONDERFUL trip to Rapid City sadly ended on Tuesday morning. The weekend was jam packed with fun day-trips to Keystone for Ol' Time Photos, Spearfish to Wildlife Sanctuary, Chucky Cheese for Malaki's b-day party, Angostura Lake for jet skiing, and lots of fun in Papa and Gran's yard. We also celebrated Father's Day, my mom's birthday (June 21st) and Tina's birthday (July 25).We couldn't have asked for a better weekend.

Father's Day 2011 was awesome! We drove to Sioux Falls to spend time with family and had a great time. We went to Falls Park and had a picnic with my brother and his family, sister Tina, and sister Mary with her family. It meant a lot to me to be able to be with at least of my brothers and brother in law on Father's Day. This day is special for so many reasons and so many people in our lives. I love watching my siblings with their children and MINE, especially on such important days. We are so blessed to have these men in our lives, as our protectors, as our partners, and as our support systems!

We were fortunate to be with my oldest brother Tim, brother in law Christopher, and of course my amazing husband on Father's Day. We called my Dad, brother Gabe, and brother in law JP to wish them a wonderful day.

And we remembered those Fathers that we no longer have with us...Tim's Dad Jon, grandfathers Rol, Don, Ed, George, and Delbert. We think of them every day but especially on this day.

We love them all dearly and appreciate what they do for their children!

You Saved Me!

My sister Christina moved to St. Peter to save me, a sad, homesick, lonely woman with a two year old and twins on the way. She couldn't have come here at a better time. She helped Tim and I through hard days with the boys and made Charlie feel special when we were too tired to do so. So yeah, my big sister saved me.

She is leaving behind a much stronger sister/mother, a more confident woman, but still homesick for my siblings. That will never change. Growing up my parents made sure we had friends to play with. That's why they had FIVE kids - so we would never be without. Living in the country we counted on each other for entertainment, support, and finding trouble. My parents didn't know at the time but they gave me the best gift possible, my brothers and sisters!

The "six of us" became "the five of us" again. We said good bye to Aunt Tina this afternoon before naps. With tears and giant hugs going around, Charlie was quite confused. But we know our visits will be frequent. I will miss our shopping trips, spa outings, and "adult" dinners.

Today was a day for the big kids...Charlie's cousins, Karlie and Claire, joined us for a fun day out while Max and Linc stayed with a sitter. We drove to Hutchinson to grab the girls and run! Our date started with lunch and bowling, manicure for the girls, ice cream for everyone, and a visit to the park! I can't say enough how much Tim and I enjoyed ourselves today with Charlie and the girls. We love our nieces dearly and cherish the memories we make together. We can't wait for the next adventure!!

Christina and I made a trip to Sioux Falls over the weekend to find her a new apartment (Yes she is moving to SF). We had a great time with Aunt Debbie and Uncle Michael, movie and games. On Sunday we spent the day with my brother Tim and his family. Tim Jr. was the most patient brother, husband, and daddy I have witnessed in so long. He let us shop, get manicures, and shop some more. It was Sophie and Izzy's first time getting professional manicures and Aunt Tina and I were so happy to be the ones to take them. We were missin' Aunt Mary, Grandma, and Kyra but we had a blast. It is great for me to get to do those girlie things with my nieces, sisters, mom and aunts. Can't wait to do it again girls!!!

BOJI BOYS 2011

Thanks to Gran and Papa, the Olson family had the privilege of another vacation in Okaboji. We went a month earlier than last year which meant cooler weather and less people. With most of the days bringing rain, we had to be creative to stay busy. So we occupied our time with shopping, crafts, mini golf, games, and lots of books/snuggle time. The boys needed no time to adjust, sleeping well for naps and during the night (thank goodness!) They had a great time with their Papa and Grandma, not thinking twice about where Mom and Dad were.

We are very fortunate to have spent this week as a family and the boys with their grandparents. Tim and I were able to have 3 dates in ONE week!! We don't hesitate when Gran says "Go! I have the boys. GO!" It means so much to us to have that time together, as a couple AND as a family. THANK YOU VERY MUCH Mom and Dad for giving my family a much needed vacation WITH you two! We love you and appreciate your thoughtfulness!

This is Charlie's biggest donation yet! We plan to beat it next year!

As we have in the past, Charlie asked for help for his birthday donation. The response he received was wonderful and heartwarming. Charlie made his purchases and the rest came from friends and family... Papa & Grandma, Great Uncle Tom & Aunt Charlene (my aunt and uncle), Tim & Faye (my oldest bro and his wife), Heather & Aaron Banks (daycare family), and Tate & Jess Mathiason (friends). Thank you so much for helping us teach Charlie what it means to give to those that are in need!!

We had our annual Haggars' celebration in honor of Grandpa Ed and Grandma Arlene this weekend in Sioux Falls. Great times were had by all. Our visit included the cemetery and lunch celebration, Washington Pavillion museum, lots of swimming, and tons of playtime with cousins!! My parents had all their grandchildren together for Saturday which always promises to be entertaining! We were able to celebrate all of the April/May birthdays in our family Saturday night with cookies and presents for Sophia(3yrs), Izzy(4yrs), Charlie(4yrs), Aunt Mary(27yrs), and Kyra(3yrs)! We love you all and can't wait for next time!

My Cup Runneth Over!

Mother's Day was an interesting day for me with emotions across the board. I found myself sitting in church without my husband but with my three handsome sons. As I sat there feeling sorry for myself because I desperately wanted Tim to be sitting with me, I realized I had nothing to feel sad about. I sat there and watched Lincoln eat cheerios off the floor, Max rearrange bibles and Hymnals in the pew, and Charlie try to sing along with our parish family during a song. I felt proud of my sons for sitting so nicely in church with their Mama. I felt loved while receiving hugs and snotty kisses from them. I felt blessed that He trusted these three little men with me (and Tim)!

No matter how hard the days get for me I will always feel lucky that I get to spend every day with my sons, that they come to me for protection, that I get to share in their milestones, and I wipe their tears and comfort them. You don't understand how much you can love someone until you become a parent.

Mother's Day 2011 - My 4th mother's day

As we are driving to church Charlie was listening to the radio and he says "Mama the guy on the radio said today is Mother's day and we should call our moms and say Happy Mother's day. So Happy Day Mama!" To the guy on the radio, Thank you! Charlie thought it was still his birthday and had asked me at breakfast to sing Happy Birthday to him again. :)

May 7, 2011 you turn 4 Charles T.! You deserve the best that life can offer you and MORE. You are a young man with an old soul and we love you to pieces! I will never forget playing Scrabble with your Dad while I was in labor with you. I could handle anything thrown my way because I knew in God's time I would meet you, kiss you, and never let you go! Just last week you and I were snuggling and I said "I wish we could stay like this forever!" and your response was "Mama I can't stay in your arms forever." Always thinking realistically aren't you?!

Charlie's birthday was spent with Grandma Millie, Nama, Auntie Heather, Uncle Ben, Uncle JP, and cousins Karlie, Claire and Avery. We went to the Como Zoo for a picnic, cake, and animals. The day was a BLAST!! I can't say enough how happy I was for our son that his birthday was perfect. Obviously we wish we could be with everyone we love on our birthdays BUT living in MN that isn't always possible. All 5 of us enjoyed ourselves with our company! The lil boys immediately warmed up to uncles and cousins and Aunt Heth. Charlie ran to his cousins for birthday hugs and had beads of sweat all over his face all day! Tim and I didn't stop smiling until bed that night. We all left happy, feeling blessed, and exhausted from family fun!

Thank you to all of you that made Charlie's birthday one for the books!! We appreciate you taking the time out of your schedules to spend the day with us and our birthday boy.

Charlie also wanted to say thank you for ALL the text messages, phone calls, emails, and cards he received!! We are all lucky to have Charles T. in our lives.

Charles Timothy turned 4 on Saturday!! We can't believe that he is only 4 because he talks to us like he is 14! He is quite the popular lil man at school these days and invited 12 friends to his birthday party on Friday night. 1 birthday boy, 11 friends and 2 brothers attended the party and it was a blast. Charlie started his celebrating with his daytime buddies Jake and Auden that morning and didn't stop partying until 9pm! Tim and I couldn't believe the generosity of his friends and their families! This lil boy ended up with some of the biggest and coolest toys a 4 year old dreams of. THANK YOU SO MUCH! Lucky Charlie!

A special thank you needs to go to Aunt Tina, Scott Janni, and Jenni Friedrich for all their help during the party!! It wouldn't have been a hit without your help.

We were blessed to spend Easter with my Dad, the boys' Papa (Gran is out of town). We had the best time together and never stopped laughing at Papa's stories. Charlie had two special outings with Papa where they did "secret" errands.
We really appreciate every time my parents make the drive out here to be with us, especially on holidays. The boys also wanted to thank everyone again for the Easter presents. They received everything from candy to summer clothes! Lucky boys.

Olsons' Hoppin' Easter Party

The Olson family celebrated Easter on Saturday afternoon together at Tim's mom's house. It was great to see everyone but so stressful due to two lil tots teething. The boys were spoiled with an Easter egg hunt and lots of lil gifts from great aunts, uncles, Nama and Grandma Millie.
Thanks to everyone who "put up" with the crying from the Olson twins and who helped make our Easter a great one!!

Tim and I had such a great time with our neices on Saturday. We are looking forward to taking the 3 big cousins out together. Charlie had so much fun that he was sweating through his shirt.

Our American Hero!!

My cousin Becky is our HERO! She is a young American female crew chief on a Blackhawk Helicopter headed to a mission in Afghanistan for the next 12 months. We are so proud of her! She left Easter morning from St. Cloud with 17 other soldiers. Dad, Christina and I drove up there that morning to kiss, hug, and pray for our Becky! Driving home we talked about how "real" this experience was for all of us. As my dad said, you read about it in the newpapers, see it on T.V. but you can't possible get that "feeling" unless you are there, watching your loved one leave. We witnessed a newly engaged couple kiss good bye, dads hugging their small children for the last time, and parents giving their last piece of advise to their child before they got in those helicopters. I get choked up thinking about that morning again.
We will be sending Becky care packages throughout her stay there. She has requested snacks and teddy bears from her Uncle Tim and Aunt Linda, and a whole list of things that her cousins are in charge of. We have asked Becky to make a list of soldiers that don't receive mail so that we can send them things as well. Anyone interested in helping with this project Please let us know.
Most importantly your prayers are needed for Becky and all the other American soldiers that are away from home right now (Tim's lil sister has a brother in law stationed in Japan).

O God, we know you care about each of your children, around the globe. We praise your loving kindness, your merciful grace. This day we lift to you our troops. So far from home and family, they do their best to serve with faithfulness and honor. Hold them tightly, Holy One. Give them courage. As they endure harsh conditions, loneliness and great danger, let them know your nearness. Help them feel your love, and comfort the families left behind. Also, we pray for the end of war. We pray for your strength, your wisdom and your reconciliation. That the serving men and women of every nation might be at home, wrapped in their families, we seek your peace, here on earth, as in heaven. Creator, bless us all as we pray in your holy name. Amen.

Kids' Museum + Lunch + "Rio" movie = SOPHIE'S 3rd birthday celebration with Aunt Mel and cousin Charlie!! We had an awesome time with Sophie, Izzy, Uncle Tim and Aunt Faye on Saturday's day trip to Sioux Falls. Sophie turns 3 on April 22nd and yes it feels like yesterday when Tim Jr called to tell me that she was born! She has cheeks that I want to bring with me everywhere and a smile that melts your heart! I am so glad that Charlie and I could start her birthday celebration off on the right foot. Lil Soph is a cowgirl and I found a book for her called "Every Cowgirl Needs a Horse" and it was too perfect for her. Miss you already girls and can't wait to share more fun times with you both!
